Dokuz Eylül University Continuing Education Centre – DESEM

DESEM, which has been working since its establishment in 1998 to provide inclusive and quality lifelong learning opportunities for all sections of society, directs its activities in collaboration with all units of the University and internal and external stakeholders, taking into account the objectives set out in the University’s main policy documents and strategic priorities. DESEM carries out its activities in the Rectorate Building of Dokuz Eylül University, which is registered as one of the cultural heritages of İzmir. It aims to contribute to the training of qualified human resources by organising continuing education and development programmes in all fields in which Dokuz Eylül University provides education and research to participants at different levels of education, apart from associate degree, undergraduate and graduate programmes. DESEM has also transferred its services to the digital environment according to the changing conditions and needs. In addition to face-to-face training, DESEM continues its mission of disseminating up-to-date and universal knowledge by reaching a wider mass, regardless of location, through online and blended programmes, and is increasing its success graph every year.

Using the academic and scientific resources of Dokuz Eylül University, DESEM offers industry-leading training programmes, educational consultancy services and corporate training solutions. In this direction, it is taking important steps to establish and strengthen university-industry cooperation for the development of vocational and technical education. These collaborations contribute both to the development of the skilled workforce required by industry and to the enhancement of the university’s applied research and innovation capacity.

In addition to vocational and career development programmes, DESEM also organises certified and certificated programmes such as foreign language training and exam preparation. DESEM also designs special programmes for institutions according to their needs, such as the Micro MBA (Master of Business Administration) and Executive Micro MBA programmes for private companies. The programmes at DESEM are delivered in a face-to-face, online or hybrid format. DESEM also encourages social participation and cultural interaction by organising free and open to the public ‘Culture-Art DESEM’ events to contribute to the cultural and artistic development of Dokuz Eylül University. Through these activities, DESEM contributes to the protection and promotion of the regional and national cultural heritage and appeals to adults of all ages and interests.
